Exercise plans for your recovery

Exercise plans are a great way for you to better understand your condition and get actively involved in your recovery.

We will work with you to find a plan that you is sustainable so you are more able to manage your own health. Active management of pain and movement problems using exercise is a proven way to increase your chances of long-term and sustained improvement.

We have several clinicians that work in this way with exercise, you may see one of them or they may collaborate to help you at different stages of the process. Check out our team or contact reception to see who is the best fit for you.

Understanding your individual exercise plan

We design your individual exercise plan to increase your physical capacity while reducing pain. We also make sure you understand what we need to work on and why.

Your plan will include simple exercises that you can manage around the rest of your life.

You may have exercises to improve your:

  • muscle strength and endurance

  • mobility

  • flexibility

  • muscle power

  • control of movement

  • impact absorption

  • cardio vascular and general fitness

  • ability to do certain activities or postures

We will help you to understand when to push yourself harder and when to be careful as you do the exercises. Our aim is to get you doing more with less pain.

Designing your plan – how we do it

Your exercise program will be specific to you. We design it after talking to you about your problems, limitations and your goals, as well as the diagnosis we make from the physical assessment.

We structure your exercise program to be simple and manageable while still targeting specific movements that relate to your existing problems and your goals, for the most benefit.

Exercise app – demonstrations and guidance

We will make your individual plan available in a free and easy to access app. If you don’t want to use an app we can also print or email your exercise plan. The app includes videos of each exercise, with suggested repetitions and weights. You can use it to keep track of your progress and to communicate with your clinician in between appointments.
